I’m interested in exploring the various ways in which image making represents the real world—both the actual visual, physical world we see, and aspects of the unseen, impossible to quantify world that reaches into our hearts and souls.
At my core I’m consumed by visual greed – I want to somehow capture the beauty I see around me, the ephemeral moment, shape, play of light, chance movement – that excites my eye.
Despite, or perhaps because of the predominance of the moving visual image in our media-saturated world, the still image maintains a position of power. Accessing that power in a way that somehow peels back the curtain of those nearly unknowable moments, and expresses an emotion or bit of knowledge buried deep within, that is beyond my ability to express in words, is the continuing challenge and joy of taking pictures and making moving images.
