MSHR, American artist duo Birch Cooper (b. 1985) and Brenna Murphy (b.1986), describe themselves as “a collaborative creative organism”. They work in multiple media including installation, sculpture, performance and digital technology. Their aim is to place the human body into a dynamic relationship with sound and light, generating expanded sensory experiences. Their name is a flexible acronym; a format that they explain to reflect the modular nature of their organisation.
MSHR was founded in Portland, Oregon in 2011. The artists have since performed and exhibited at Transmediale, Berlin; Le Dictateur, Milan; Kunstverein Dusseldorf, Dusseldorf; Maison des Artes Creteil, Creteil; and Eyebeam, NYC.
