Ovila (b.1969) is a Canadian artist currently working and living in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated with a BFA from Concordia University, Montreal, in 1994. He works with digital painting and animations apps. He creates digital works that are hand drawn, working to bring some warmth to the digital art. It is an important choice to Ovila that his digital artworks look and feel like they were created by someone. He works in the space between traditional painting and digital.
Music is an integral part of his artistic output. He has never been interested in a separation of visual art and music. He is interested in creating immersive, meditative, sound and vision experiences and short, digital, animations are the ideal platform for this exploration.
Since completing his degree he has lived and worked in many cities around the globe; including Vancouver, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited in most of these locations and his works are included in private collections in throughout.
