My journey with video creation began in the 8th grade purely by accident, when I took tv news as an elective. I could never have predicted that it would lead to one of the great loves of my life. After attending the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX, I went on to complete my BFA in Video Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design. While there, I met renowned video artist Dara Birnbaum. This opportunity set me on the path to creating the first multi-channel installation at the college a new phase of my artistic development.
Art should, in my opinion, always push the boundaries of its technology. Video art can and should defy conventional “television” restrictions. Building unique visual layouts, collaging together moving images into deeply layered visuals, and intermingling distinct audio streams, video art and video installations can create a world of sound and visuals that envelopes you. It can go beyond the canvas and brings you fully into a different reality.
After recovering from cancer in 2017, I began to create art that opens my mind to new ways of seeing and thinking; a moment where I can breathe deeply and experience magic. My art is a call to transcend beyond the moment and dive below the surface; to immerse ourselves in new worlds of possibilities.
