"I created this work while thinking about the antagonism of the material and the digital. Coming from a graphic design background, the desire to create material work was in conflict with the results I knew I could get using technology. Similarly, this concept is associated with the practice of photo editing, filters - but also more transparent alterations such as pills and injections - pose a dangerous threat to body image, where the subjects represented are so used to identify themselves with an edited version of themselves, that they are never fully satisfied with a true representation." - Sofia Cianciulli, 2020.
