Nicolas Sassoon and Rick Silva presents their large scale video installation, Signals, at Wil Aballe Art Projects, Vancouver, CA.
The artists have brought together their complementary experience in computer imaging - Sassoon in moiré and digital texturing, Silva in 3D rendering - in an experimental exploration of the properties of water in the digital realm. The outcome of the project currently on display at Wil Aballe is an installation featuring a series of video works which focus on the same simulated location in slightly different ways.
Signals engages with the notion and practice of contemplation in the digital realm. There is a relationship between the perpetual motion of the rippling, light-dappled and oil-slicked water and the editing decisions made by the artists, which remove clear beginning and end points. The simulated ecological realm Signals creates is both fragile and boundless and evokes both nature and the manmade.
The three video works presented by Sassoon and Silva are available on Sedition in the Signals Collection and are part of the Signals project currently on display at Wil Aballe Art Projects.
Signals is on from at Wil Aballe Art Projects at 1356 Frances Street, Suite #105, Vancouver, V5L 1Y9, Canada from 10 December 2015 - 9 January 2016.
