Jess Kilby (b. 1975) is an American-Australian artist who works across a variety of mediums, including photography, video, assemblage and installation. She is also a published writer of award-winning fiction and creative nonfiction, with a particular interest in hybrid and experimental narrative that informs her visual practice.
Jess holds an MA in Creative Technology (University of Salford, UK) and a PhD in Media and Communication (RMIT University, Australia). Through her photographic work she explores the resonance of place, and the liminal experience of attuning to that resonance. Her images slide between documentary and speculation, both inviting and resisting narrative, and reveal the luminous within the everyday.
