Morphologies, created by Michael Romeo (also known as Night Shining), consists of hyper-synced audiovisual digital sculptures. These works explore the increasing hybridisation of natural organisms and synthetic materials in our world and consider how this is affecting the environment and all the living beings within it, both human and non-human, during the Anthropocene era.
To generate real-time 3D graphics and sound, each form in the Morphologies series employs a unique combination of custom algorithms. Romeo provides human input to each piece, resulting in subtle variations between each presentation, whether it be as a video or audiovisual performance alongside the artist.
