Novi_sad Live Performances in Manchester and Paris

This Autumn, Novi_sad presents live performances of his acclaimed works in Manchester and Paris. On 31 October, Novi_sad presents two works, IIC (International Internal Catastrophes) and Sirens, at The Lowry in Salford, Manchester. The works will be presented as live audiovisual performances that immerse the viewer in a multi-sensory experience.

Following on 4 November, Novi_sad performs Sirens (visuals by Ryoichi Kurokawa) as part of Transient Festival. The audiovisual performance takes place at Cabaret Sauvage as part of a line-up of performances including Plaid & The Bee, Abdulla Rashim and Legowelt. Transient is Paris’ festival of electronic art showcasing cutting-edge experimental audiovisual work.

Through his practice Novi_sad creates ‘cinema pour l’oreille’ (cinema for the ear), an immersive audiovisual experience constructed through the careful manipulation and re-contextualisation of sonic field recordings. Acoustics captured from natural and architectural landscapes are integrated with various digital and analogue methods of audio analysis to create rich multi-layered works which connect analogue frequencies with digital pulses.

IIC is a project developed in collaboration with Isaac Niemand which constructs layered peaks and crescendos from recordings captured in Iceland’s volcanic landscape. Sirens is a collaboration with Ryoichi Kurokawa and five sound artists. The project investigates the aesthetics of data by transforming audio recordings relating to major historic financial crashes into visual and sonic compositions.

The Sirens collection and IIC are available on Sedition as digital editions. The Sirens collection features five works derived from the live performance. Transient Festival takes place in various venues across Paris from 2-5 November with a performance by Novi_sad at Cabaret Sauvage, Parc de la Villette, 211 Avenue Jean Jaurès, 75019 Paris, France on 4 November 2016.
