My hometown is Minneapolis and I watched the events unfold from lockdown in Bangkok. During the aftermath in the race discussion I saw online, as a queer individual, I cannot help but feel exhausted by the lack of empathy, understanding and willingness to understand the point of view from others. Even worse, the basic lack of ability for people to step up and stand against the various types of hate minorities must face in general. While all minority experiences are different, the thing that connects them is that we all feel some sort of hate. And we will live with that hate.
This work is questions whether hate is a natural thing or something that can be controlled and managed. I must hope for that latter. This footage was shot in Paris in 2019 during a long video session that will become various project with my dancer friend from Brazil who lives in Paris.
Now has been finished in Bangkok in June 2020.
