Run is the video piece presenting a dreamy virtual cityscape and documenting the artist, Snow Yunxue Fu playing the ground, buildings and sky levels within her art game.
Fu's art game ‘Run’ is an interactive reflection on the relationships of the intensive city structures to the larger natural environments. It also meditates on the highly technological and city-centric society that we inherit in the contemporary world. It is a dreamland and the 3rd person player with the image of a young woman sleepwalks, wanders around, and flies through the techno city and garden. Perhaps she is trying to find something, herself, or escaping?
The artwork is -unfortunately- quite relevant to the recent reality as many cities in China are flooded by the unusual weather mainly resulting from human activities, and referencing major cities like Shanghai that have been experiencing the extreme typhoon called 'Firework' in the summer of 2021. The piece is also meant to be experienced as a soundscape, the players’ movement curates a symphony from the diverse zones within the heavily foggy environments.
