ImuS is an abstract audiovisual work by Makoto Inoue published as a part of his collection, Liquid.
With ambient sound, it presents Indian ink running on a white surface. As ink spreads out and bleeds into others, thin layers of medium build the imagery gradually. Monotonous landscapes, mountains, rivers or waterfalls appear and disappear following the movements of ink.
Inoue refers to a Buddhistic thought that every phenomenon has a meaning and its own soul to create ImuS. The artist showcases this idea with his minimalistic expression.
