Genesis Space is a 3D moving image artwork by Liao Yibai. Exploring three-dimensional spaces, Yibai delivers a narrative throughout the collection, speculating about the connection between human and machine, and physical and virtual reality.
"The genesis of space, it’s unfathomable that this is still unknown. Where will we be exiled to next? Destiny is often like a pile of hay, blown away and carried by the winds of life. Celestial beings are often just like hay and dust, wandering, displaced, in this vast space with an end in sight.
Exploring 3D software and building a new virtual space is the beginning for humans to think and explore themselves, which can seem to be at a distance from reality; the fate of all individuals seems to be calculated by computers; and humans' insatiable need to squeeze the calculation of computers. Forced, to do everything possible to calculate their own destiny.
Accumulate data, let machines learn to think, deep learning, self-reflection, spatial arrays, random sampling changes...
All these efforts are the beginning of mankind's challenge to space. I believe that our wisdom can touch the truth. We are only at the tip of the iceberg. We are still tens of billions of light-years away from being able to calculate our own destiny.
Therefore, any individual can feel the deep loneliness at the bottom of the soul, whether in the wild or in the darkest night.
