Pepper by Kseniia Timofeeva, part of the Confluence collection, imbues within the viewer an awareness of the often estranged relationship between oneself and food. The observation of this estranged relationship develops into alienation, as a hand swiftly detaches the pepper and along with it a human figure within. The brisk and stark separation between this figure and the wholeness of the pepper highlights an unnatural separation between the modern person and their food.
Confluence by Kseniia Timofeeva is an elusive collection of video artworks that traverse the fusion and relationship, connection and disconnection, between humans and food; foods’ vitality, of which we consume, of which eventually becomes us.
