Nuclear is an artwork by Grace Redman launched as part of Verity, a curated program of 3D moving image artworks that reflect the current unsettling time which we are living in. The program features selected work by students who were taught by Professor Snow Yunxue in the Department of Photography and Imaging at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Artists explore the theme of realities and verity through the post-photographic lens of this infinitely capable medium by creating digital space alternatives, utilizing fluid simulation, bodily forms models, key-framed animation, and other 3D techniques. Drawing from theatrical, performative, cinematic, sculptural, and game practices, the works exhibited explore the strangeness and boundaries of reality.
"Technology is becoming increasingly integrated in our daily lives through handheld and home devices, a topic that has been widely explored through various mediums. Instead of looking forward through a dystopian science fiction-esque lens, nuclear withholds judgement, depicting a world where even with advanced AI technology, one’s needs and desires remain painfully human." - Grace Redman
