Time Step is an artwork by Fiona Beswick launched as part of Verity, a curated program of 3D moving image artworks that reflect the current unsettling time which we are living in. The program features selected work by students who were taught by Professor Snow Yunxue in the Department of Photography and Imaging at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Artists explore the theme of realities and verity through the post-photographic lens of this infinitely capable medium by creating digital space alternatives, utilizing fluid simulation, bodily forms models, key-framed animation, and other 3D techniques. Drawing from theatrical, performative, cinematic, sculptural, and game practices, the works exhibited explore the strangeness and boundaries of reality.
"A Time Step references a movement in tap dance that introduces an improvisational section of dance or a change in choreography. In Time Step the medium of animation evolves as the lines between reality and fiction are increasingly blurred. " - Fiona Beswick
