Medical history of a sacrifice ... The pain and damage caused by the crucifixion were designed to be extremely intense, to the point where death would be constantly longed for. A death by crucifixion seems to include everything that pain and death can have that is horrible and frightening: vertigo, cramps, thirst, starvation, fever, tetanus, shame, humiliation, long duration of torment, horror of anticipation, mortification of the uncared for wounds ... A symphony of pain produced by each movement, with each inspiration, even a small breeze on the skin could have caused intense pain.
