Claudia Hart’s
Rose Throb was originally created for artist Faith Holland’s solo exhibition
Technophilia at Transfer Gallery in Brooklyn, New York in July 2015. Hart was among forty internet artists who contributed a unique gif animation for the screening of
GIFs to Have Sex By. Here, Hart’s sensual rose of coloured petals and greenery has been transformed into a throbbing erotic flower that separates out onto the screen in a delightful dance of green and red/violet leaves against a black background. The work’s impulsive sequence of oscillating elements is accompanied by an almost tribal soundtrack of guttural utterances that shapes the visual rhythm of this alluring animation.
