Instability is an artwork by Chrissy Nelson launched as part of Verity, a curated program of 3D moving image artworks that reflect the current unsettling time which we are living in. The program features selected work by students who were taught by Professor Snow Yunxue in the Department of Photography and Imaging at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Artists explore the theme of realities and verity through the post-photographic lens of this infinitely capable medium by creating digital space alternatives, utilizing fluid simulation, bodily forms models, key-framed animation, and other 3D techniques. Drawing from theatrical, performative, cinematic, sculptural, and game practices, the works exhibited explore the strangeness and boundaries of reality.
"This video is a representation of the feelings of anxiety and instability we can feel on a daily basis. Despite us trying to show others that we’re constantly in a calm and relaxed state, and have full control over our emotions and lives, we are still being pushed and pulled by forces greater than us." - Chrissy Nelson
