LIMA is a generative artwork by Ali Phi and is part of the MUELAQ collection. The work is derived from a live generative real-time audiovisual installation which reproduces itself over time and generates different patterns of particles.
The particles form a dynamic digital sound sculpture based on the constant change of frequency and panning. To make the work, Phi takes information from a source file and its surrounding noise, and moulds visual representations of it within a designed particle system. This work creates a simple AI, a virtual life form whose existence is based on, and dependent on, the evolution of technology.
